Police College of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague
The Police College of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague, situated in Praha 9 – Hrdlořezy, constitutes a state organization, with the director acting as a statutory body. It has the accreditation to provide high school professional education in the Law Enforcement and Security Work and Police Work programmes. In addition, the College has recently opened the advanced professional education Law Enforcement and Security Work programme. The College also provides training courses of the initial professional education, as well as other retraining, innovating, or refresher courses tailored to specific requirements of the Czech Police. The Centre for Human Rights and Integrity is established as an integral pat of the College.



The primary mission of the Police College of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague is to arrange for and implement professional training of police officers for exercise of their principal service duties of non-commissioned officers. For police officers and staff of the Czech Police and the Ministry of the Interior the College provides language courses, as well as courses for the state and local administration officials as a part of their long-life education.
Spreading over the 13,5 ha area the Police College of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague comprises modern facilities, such as 52 regular classrooms, 47 special training-oriented rooms, 3 gymnasia, a swimming pool, sauna and an assembly hall and embodies the largest police training centre in the country with the overall capacity of 1,200 students. The school has become the UNESCO Associated School and acts as a teaching practice school for the Pedagogical Faculty of the Charles University. It also has the accreditation for the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) testing.
Owing to its high-quality equipment and high-skilled and competent teaching staff implementing progressive methods and forms of education, the College offers a range of training activities to police officers and staff of the Ministry of the Interior and the Czech Police. Keeping up with the latest holistic trends the teachers stress the necessity to bring forth interdisciplinary links and manage to integrate the knowledge from various fields of study. The College co-operates with the Czech Police departments and has entered into partnership with a number of police training centres from abroad. This co-operation has enabled the tutors to exchange knowledge and has brought new insights into their publishing activity.
Formal and work meetings, educational and various other kinds of training activities often take place in the detached training centre based in Kryštofovy Hamry, a tiny village settled in the picturesque mountainous scenery of Krušné Hory.

Education Department
The main task of the department is to provide police officers with training and education in the initial police professional training, high school, and advanced education programmes. The department is also responsible for organising special training programmes for police officers and staff of the Czech Police and the Ministry of the Interior. The department also organizes training and other activities arising from the status of the practice school of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Charles University and the UNESCO Associated Schools.
The training for the exercise of police activities takes place in special rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Department of Further Education
The main task of the department is to provide language courses for police officers and staff of the Czech Police and the Ministry of the Interior, and courses for the state and local administration officials. The department organises professional training within the programmes of initial and continuous education for the Ministry of the Interior officials, training courses for the low and middle management of the Czech Police as well as seminars on human rights and integrity for police officers and staff of the Ministry.
Economic Department
The department is responsible for the school budget, the remuneration system, and the administration of public tenders. The primary task is to arrange accommodation and boarding, and to manage economic aspects of operating the shooting range, training, sport and cultural facilities, the detached training centre , the garage and motor vehicle maintenance.
Office of the Director
The office is responsible for the safety of the College premises and intervenes under the circumstances of emergency. It also monitors the protection of classified information and personal data. In addition, it manages nomenclature, work of director’s secretariat and operates mail delivery.
The Office of the Director comprises the lawyer and the auditor.
The lawyer monitors whether the rules and regulations are observed, and internal instructions and their implementation comply with legal norms.
The auditor is responsible for audit engagement and internal inspection.
Human Resources Department
The department implements HR policy, handles employment matters, and deals with preventive rehabilitation and in-service training of the employees. It also provides counselling to the trainees and tutors in the College staff and manages drawing financial means from the College Cultural and Social Fund.
